Going by some discussion on the obtuse Facebook page, are these forums obsolete when it comes to the Con itself? Should they be? Why is FB the "go-to" for information when it really shouldn't be? Then again, if these forums are so disenfranchised, is this discussion moot? Chaotic Jon
In order to stay current I use 4 sources. Facebok group for GaryCon Discord group for GaryCon but not official TTE homepage for GaryCon XII GaryCon.com announcments on the homepage Never been able to everything at one location.
It’s fine. If I have to choose between rejoining Facebook and being a bit out of the loop about Gary Con (among other things), I’ll choose being out of the loop every time. I do check the news page every few weeks, though.
OD&D(1974) is the only true game. All the other editions are poor imitations of the real thing. as long as i can ask about rides here when March rolls around i visit at least once every 2 - 3 years
I think the 50 posts on here in the last 24 hours speaks for itself. Why don’t they “kill” the FB page instead?
I come here from time to time... I like the Event Data Analysis I come here more after January through the con. There was mentioned that the staff did not have access to these pages (Caroline - https://www.facebook.com/groups/58339157369/permalink/10157974457557370/) Granted I do not post in the Facebook page anymore except about promoting my games.. (trying not to get involved in any discussions / drama that will get me blocked) Just sticking to the Greg Barry Experience...
It think this is the FB post/thread that sparked this discussion: https://www.facebook.com/groups/58339157369/permalink/10157974457557370/
Most of the initial discussion was edited after posting. Regardless of what happened to the original post, the thought got tossed out there in such an offhanded, improper manner longtime attendees such as myself and a few others have to wonder - hence this here.
Lordy. Thanks for the link. I would never, ever have found that on my own, because it never, ever would have occurred to me that GaryCon had 2 different Facebook pages. Why???
More importantly, why aren't the posting important stuff on their web site and cross posting to FB and here? Also, using TTE email for already registered attendees as well the opt-in Gary Con newsletter.
A question that's been asked for a few years now - by yourself repeatedly, if I recall correctly, giz.
