Wow. Dug up an old thread to pour salt in the wounds.

    I like it! ;)

However, Luke, is kinda like a sleeping bear who is still slumbering for the winter. If the Bears makes a good run next year- he will be all over us in saying how much we ALL suck. So taunting Luke can be a double edged weapon.

That being said- I'm just glad he's a Bears fan.

I would give my eye-teeth for a decent Oline and recievers. Can Hester not telegraph his routes? Holy crap, my gramma (deceased) could have kept up with him. At least 3 of those interceptions were Jay tossing the ball because the pocket was collapsing faster than the receivers could get thru their routes and he was trying to rush it. You have to give him credit though, on that last INT before the half, he got creamed after the release, got up, got blocked, bounced up and pushed the dude out of bounds before the TD. At least he's got some balls. Better than that freakin' sieve of an Oline.

    OK, I'm done. Grrrr.

(At least my childhood hometown team, da BUNGLES, are doing decent this year. Sunday will be a helluva game.)

I AM a Bears fan, too, but I never liked the Cutler deal. I thought they gave up way too much for a one season wonder.
He’s got a canon of an arm, but his accuracy is so-so, and his decision making sucks. He’s a red zone choker too; he’s got more than twice as many red zone interceptions than the next QB on the list.
The Bears’ problems are more coaching and management than player related. They have had some bad luck with injuries though. Kyle Orton was this year’s Jay Cutler in Denver, with only one interception thrown (and that was a hail mary type situation) before the last game against the Steelers.

The Bears’ problems primarily stem from drafting and player development issues, particularly the latter. A lot of the QB issues the Bears have experience through the QB parade that’s marched through town can be blamed more on the development of the players, and not so much on the players themselves,
Kyle Orton and the two first round draft picks the Bears gave away, in a better managed organization, would be a better package than Cutler.
The Broncos are 6 and 2 now, I think, and they still have extra draft picks (a 1st rounder) to look forward to for future development, thanks to this deal.

Forgive me for the barrage of posts, but I’m at work and only get to post partial thoughts.
    Continuing from the previous thought:
Chicago can recognize talent, but they’re so desperate for a QB solution that they rush young QBs into play too early, and give up on them too quickly, and that ‘savior of the franchise’ expectation that they seem to attach to all of their new quarterbacks doesn’t help much either.

Thanks for continuing this thread guys. I mean I REALLY appreciate it :x

I agree with Scotty on the source of the Bears woes. They have systemic problems in the management and coaching. I believe Cutler is a good QB. He has a poor O line and a sub-standard receiving corps. It is hard to look good in that situation. I think he can be a great QB- but he needs the right development and supporting cast to be a great QB. Put Favre on the Bears this year and he would suck too.

Replace "Bears" with "Redskins" and you sum my team up as well.

I would enjoy this thread a lot more if the Giants hadn't tanked in the last month or so.

No problem, just trying to help a fellow out, just like Cutler helped out the Vikings. ;) I'm just following the friend checklist.

    Buddy on the floor? Check
    Is he injured/wounded? Check
Good supply of salt? Check (If yes, rub it in)
Boots for kicking? Check (If yes, kick him while he's down)
Book of insults? Check (If yes, perform concatenation)

Doesn't Hurt! Doesn't Hurt!! After all these years of abuse WE Bear fans have become very thick-skinned. Two cases of beer & a bottle of Jack every sunday helps too! Now you know how we got on the floor.

Are you kidding? We Redskins fans have been in the gutters for a long stretch now as well. Sure we've squeeked into a wild card slot a couple of times, but since Doug Williams... we got nuthin...

That's why I laugh at my uncle, who's a Redskins fan, despite the fact that he grew up in the SF Bay Area.
