Oh yeah, I know interest in AD&D will be high at the con, but with many luminaries there running games, I wasn’t sure what kind of interest I would get.

Well, this year, there were more willing gamers than seats at "luminary tables". I imagine it will be the same next year, and you won't have much trouble finding some people to play in your game, or finding a seat on the other side of the screen.

I know its way too soon for me to start pinning things down but if I think big then it'll be a good thing in the end.

I'm going to run two different GKTSR era things if thats possible. One early and one later. One large and one small. I think I might do a private after hours one as well so that would be three. Then I'm going to do some other miscellaneous antics.

    Hows that? ;)

It's a quick & fun little game of WWI air combat & the minis are kewl! From what I've heard series 1 has sold out for a second time, don't know if they're going to do a reprint or not. Series 3 was released about six months ago. You'll get to see them if you make it to Garycon 2 (or Gaming Hoopla this month). I will be running re-spawning events each day. Altitude rules will be home spun via Richthofen's War (Avalon Hill) aircraft stats. And yes, Baron V.D. (Von Deekin) will be up & flying at both conventions. Beware the Hun in the sun!

Well I suppose it no surprise that I will be running a DJMGRPG Mythus adventure for those interested. If it be a three day event I would do two days of Journey Mastering.

I think I may already have the first day booked, but would anyone be interested in day two? :) I could use six to seven Players per game.

Yeah, seems like everyone is going after the Dr. I of Von Richthofen's - that seems to be the toughest one to track down. Just picked up series two yesterday and will be looking at series three in the very near future. Piecing together series one as I go along...

If you haven't already, check with nobleknight.com. They still had a few of the series I about a week ago.

Hmm.... Here’s what I would really like to see...

If AD&D is a tournament game, where are the tournaments?

    Scotty G?
    Anyone?

After all, competition leads to excellence!

Hey, if you know anyone that has an extra Von Richthofen Dr. I mini and they are looking to sell it, just let me know. Everywhere I've checked so far has been a dead end - same thing, "sold out"! :\

I'll keep my ears open, or if I spot one I'll scarf it up for you. Gonna try running a game at Gaming Hoopla this weekend. I've got the home rules all figured out in my head, now I just gotta get them down on paper. (YEA, like that's gonna happen!)

Thanks a bunch! Just give me a holler if & when ya spot one. I would love to make it to Gaming Hoopla, but it just isn't in the cards this weekend!

Well, I've looked at the tournament setup and ther eis a lot of repetition. Thats just not my bag but I don't know maybe if it was setup different.

The tournament game is usually not my thing. For a con, I’d prefer a miniatures game or a board game of some sort.
If I was going to run/play an RPG, I’d prefer it to be like a big event in a campaign that’s ongoing; like an online game that gets together at cons occasionally to play, time it so you get the background info and early stages out of the way beforehand, so that when you get to the con, you’re ready for those epic moments in the campaign. Everybody’s on the same page, there’s more context for the adventure, and you have a greater connection with your character.

You're right. I used to get people rolling fast but a recent game two years ago this player had me totally distracted with questions about classic D&D and she had to take medicine for mental problems so I felt sorry for her. Even though I can be very aggressive and enforcing with "fairer" gamers its also in my nature to be a gentleman. At least a little, superficially, but never in regards to "fairness for the boys" in the game. Thats the kind of crappy playing that I've seen time again with DMs who can't get a date so they get a "female familiar"! ;) However in that case, she was so pathetic it was heartbreaking and it was like the game crawled because of all the innocent and pitiful questioning.

I think I'm playing with a health warning label next time...

    ;)

Oh yeah, I remember, your idea at one point was more like a Living AD&D.

I'm seriously thinking of running The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh next year. I think it would be great to pull out that old classic that I know almost by heart. I'd use regular AD&D rules so I guess I better find some old school gamers around these parts to refresh me.

I like the old style of gaming but admit to having used the 3.x rules system.

(Yeah, even the Kenzer guys give me grief over it.)

I'm just wondering if anyone is planning on running some Star Frontiers. This was a game I never got a chance to play and have always wanted to play it. I'd love to see someone run something like this or some of the other games I used to read about in Dragon as a young lad but never got the chance to play.

I am going to make an attempt to come up and over from the DC area next year and would be more than happy to join your table!

Hopefully everything falls into place, for both of us.
