Thread to discuss.... Based on the Firefly TV series and Serenity movie (err, movie trilogy I mean...maybe some day). ------------ Maybe we can add the Madison Browncoats (http://www.cstsmadison.com/), Chicagoland Browncoats (http://www.chicagolandbrowncoats.com/), Milwaukee Browncoats (http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/Milwaukee_Browncoats/) and other Browncoats worldwide if we add Serenity to the list of spotlight RPGs. I'm not sure if we start to deviate from the spirit of Gary Con if it gets too big and diverse... There was a Serenity RPG book at the Gary Con 1 auction, but i don't recall who donated it - was it the Hickman or Weis? Please post if you know. Any way, Serenity is yet another game that I'd like to play at GC2 and beyond. So many games so little time...GC2 is going to be 7 days, right ;-)
I like this game. Never played it, but I got the base rulebook and Out in the Black. The mechanics are not overly complicated and do their job well enough (if you're not playing the system that is - it's sort of a controversial issue: there are those who like the Cortex game system well enough and those who absolutely hate it). The book is written in the spirit of the Firefly series, with an "in-character" tone to it, which I liked as well. If I had a bunch of browncoats in my area to play with I sure would.
