Don't tell anybody else, but we are going to go to 4 days for Gary Con IV. Mostly so we (staff, volunteers and VIPs) can actually get together and game during Gary Con! I am looking at keeping it a free day as well- buy 3 days and get Thursday for free. Mums the word!
I already thought that was some unspoken rule anyway! I found it funny at both GC II and GC III that when I arrived on Thursday I'd see people already in the lobby playing some type of game. Personally, I always try and get to a Con a day early so that I can get some open gaming done and hang out with friends who are fortunate enough to get there early as well. Some of the Cons in this area also have a pre-con get together for the organizers so they can have a chance to get together and have some fun before the busyness of the Con takes over their lives for the next few days. FWIW
Thanks! I hope they will use it. All the best, Mark "My middle name is 'My middle name is slogans'" Clover
Everyone should really try to make this convention. The entire LG experience was great. From the pizza greet, the OUTSANDING gaming, the genuine heartfelt commitment of the staff, the light snow dusting, the sounds of the early morning Wooping Cranes, the late night Spotted Cow and even the Maple Festival right down the street, together it all makes for a memorable time. Oh yea......almost forgot......4 for IV.
One of my favorite memories from Gary Con II was standing in the hall downstairs and striking up an impromptu discussion on comic books with several of the other attendees. We discussed Green Lantern, X-Men, Justice League and all manner of other comics as well as TSR's, Marvel Super Heroes RPG. It was great and I wish I had recorded it, as it would have made for a great podcast! Alas, you just can't recreate that kind of moment...or hour as it turned out to be. Anyone out there remember that? And at Gary Con III last year, I remember Wednesday night at the bar talking not about gaming but about grilling! That was another fun time as many of us in that talk--just like in the comic book talk from the prior year's convention--did not know one another but because of the friendly nature of Gary Con, it didn't matter. That's perhaps the thing I like most about Gary Con, you may not know people going there but by the end you find you have so many new friends.
Smokin Sorry for the delayed response to your query. Yes there were 5 colors of d4 to choose from at GC IV. They sold out by the end of the con. I might have a small number stashed away somewhere. Perhaps as a prize or something. Good news is we will likely do a d6 for this year.
I think a beer mug or pint glass would be awesome! I also think a coffee mug would be great, especially if we could get some sort of refill deal worked out with the Lodge.
I'm definitely behind a Beer Mug or Stein. I don't drink coffee so a travel mug would be okay but I can see myself with a set of GaryCon Beer Steins. Pure awesome.
Now the mind's planetary gear slips alittle looking for extra horsepower. Lets see....i got the plastic cup. I should have taken better care of it. I have a full set of steins coming. Coffee mug sounds like a great idea. And I would HAVE to come back again for the shotglasses. And a flask. Wineskin? Minikeg. Heck, start a brewery and bottle something. 28 days and im on the road. That reminds me to check my transmission fluid 'fore i leave.
With great dismay I have to say that I wont make it this year. I have terrible timing. I missed the d4 at GCIV and now Ill miss the d6.
