Gary Magazine Since the site isn't ready yet (oh, let it be soon) I thought I'd ask a few questions here. 1. Will there be message boards? 2. Will there be supplemental material to what gets published in the zine? Scientific American does it. 3. Which of Gary's games will you cover? 4. Will you have space for blogs? If the answer is yes, could I have a blog for Dangerous Journeys material? 5. If I get a DJ advice column can I call it Thymely Wisdom (Grognards will understand what I'm talking about.)?
Re: Gary Magazine To be clear, it's called Gygax Magazine, an exciting new project headed by Gary's eldest sons, Ernie and Luke.
Re: Gary Magazine There are some good interviews with Jayson Elliot, Tim Kask and me out there on the web about TSR and Gygax Magazine. I will take a moment to help clarify what the mission of Gygax Magazine is and what we are not. Gygax Magazine is the first project of the new TSR Games. TSR Games is not affiliated in any way with TSR Hobbies that was purchased by WoTC in the 1990's. The TSR name was abondoned and Jayson Elliot acquired it in 2011. Just to make it absolutely clear- TSR is not affiliated with WoTC nor do we have the rights to any of their licenses or products. Gygax Magazine is named after my brother Ernie and me. The magazine is not associated with Estate of Gary Gygax. The focus is not on Old School Gaming. It is going to take on a broader scope and appeal to all segments of the gaming community. Our goal is to publish a high quality independent magazine that is about Gaming with a big "G". Gygax Magazine will, as Tim Kask put it so eloquently, "salute the roots while taking special notice of the best new shoots". We will give space to good games of any sort whether it is role-playing, board, miniature, card or some other variant or hybrid. We will put out material for use with current game systems as well as out of print games. The intent is to bridge the gap between segments of the gaming community. The first issue is packed with material from respected authors (or mostly respected authors- I managed to get an article past the editor!). The first issue is due out in December. Look for Gygax Magazine's first issue in December 2012. GM is the first product from the new TSR Games! The staff of Gygax Magazine includes Ernie Gygax, Luke Gygax, Jayson Elliot, Tim Kask, Jim Wampler and James Carpio. This will be a high quality independent gaming magazine that will bridge the gap between old school and current games. Go to http://www.gygaxmagazine.com to sign up for notifications.
