Any update on the special events? I've been patient. But I'm really curious what is included under that category. Any hints?
That section just hasn't been kept up to date. For the most part, the Special and VIP events have all been announced and are mixed into the Event Catalog. The Live Auction and Silent Auction are the only certain special events that aren't in the catalog. In the past, there's also been a pizza buffet/mixer and ongoing convention mini-game with prizes. They could have a secret still under wraps, but, most likely that covers it.
