Running a LL/BX module playtest right now. We've been doing a lot of that lately. This playtest should finish up in a few sessions, then I gotta smack it into shape for publication. While I'm doing that, another member of the group may start running an old C&C campaign we were playing about a year ago.
Re: A long way from Hawaii Hi Spenser. Lihue is on Maui right? I think I drove through there on vacation. Hawaii is really beautiful.
Sorry man! Mama's got a bun in the oven and the cook time is almost up. And... we are trying to get our house ready to list on the market - we're at crunch time as our agent wants to open it this coming Sunday! w00t! And... work has been psycho crazy for the last few weeks. So in short, I have a lot of high stress things going on at the moment. I'm just glad I found the time to come to LG and game with you and the rest of the good peeps up there! I'll be back in force on this board once my life begins to settle down. It's sweet that you miss me though, you big tiger, you. I miss you too!
Myself and some folks I know just started playing some Battletech (non-RPG). We'll probably try to play several times a year in between some RPGs. It was fun; hadn't played in almost 20 years.
Would this be the current, "Classic" Battletech or the old rules? My group has switched back to their older characters and are on the outskirts of the Star Cairns, "Lost Tombs" adventure series from the 2nd edition (revised). They need a few coins for their new barony.
Looks like I'm gonna be giving the current version of Shadowrun a go - just got my core book & a buddy of mine here's running the game. Rather weird because the old ads from Dragon mag stick out clearly in my mind, but I never did play it "back in the day." I was pretty much all (A)D&D with a smattering of entertaining Top Secret, Gamma World, and an episode or three of Boot Hill thrown in. (And Champions.) (Which makes me think of Marvel - I hear a really good time was had at GCII with Marvel) (Should try that, too.)
Kicked off a new Labyrinth Lord (Moldvay/Cook retroclone) campaign for my 7 and 11 year old the other night. Will probably be inviting another 7 year old and his Dad into the game pretty soon.
There isn't much difference between the new "Classic Battletech" books and those from the 90s. Mostly the new books clarified the rules and compiled all sorts of options into four books.
What's really nice about the books is that presents everything in one convenient location so you don't need to break out all of the various books to have a full-on battle (e.g. BattleSpace, AeroTech, and BattleTech battles running simultaneously as one event).
Depending on how things go with planning my last quarter as an undergrad and GC III, I'm hoping to run something. Preferably Alternity and a Basic D&D adventure. But, barring that, I'd so love to run a BattleTech session...haha
Last game day we played some 1st ED Bibleopoly: a Biblical Game of Fun and Faith, for a change of pace. My buddy Grizz here in the picture won! We all had a blast.
My family tried to play that a game a few times but when we realized you had to give everything away to win the more "dominate" players decided this wasn't their cup of tea.
We also had that problem In The Beginning. (Sorry for the pun, I had too…) It was like friendly Monopoly, one of only two ways to get the foundation of your church was to give deeds away to others to complete their color blocks. But after these realizations people in our group (even the hard core Players) started giving money and deeds left and right! My buddy Grizz (or should I call him Paul as he won? ) was one of those hard core gamers and he won! I love 1st century history in general and early Christen and Roman history especially, and before I even knew that the Faith/Contingency cards would ask a Player to state a historical fact about a biblical city, I was rattling off facts on every city I seen on the board. :geek: I would play it again. Maybe at GCIII if you are up for it. :?:
I'd forgotten that it asked historical facts. Since I'm trying to specialize in church history, that sounds like a great idea. More than happy to try a game if there's time! It's been a long time since I've played it.
That sounds like a deal; I bring it with me just in case! I have submitted 5 games and a Demonstration- viewtopic.php?f=4&t=25&start=75 but still left SAT totally open so whatever gamming I get to do will be SAT or after hours. I’ll know more when the catalog comes out.
I'm hoping to revive my 1e game with Ethan and Henry while we're in NJ for the holidays, but we'll see....
